Day 118
October 6, 2022
Thursday
LRM 102
2193 miles completed
25 miles today.
Yesterday I had a wonderful family visit with my daughter, Tracey, and her daughter, Brittany, Britney’s husband Can and Brittany’s, two children, Henry and Charlotte. I had great fun playing with my great grandchildren.
Today I resumed my trip. The river is very wide here and as a result, there is not much current. Paddling 25 miles in a day is a full days work. The wind was mild, and it was either behind me, or to the side. I didn’t have very much wind in my face all day. The barge and ship traffic was not quite as bad as had been the previous two days.
I am now past Kenner and the New Orleans airport. I can see the city skyline. I found a place to stop and get out at Audubon River Park. I got a ride back to my granddaughters house. I’ll spend the night there and resume again in the morning. It is very nice that I will be able to sleep in a bed again tonight, and not have to camp. We all went out to a Mexican restaurant, El Paso. There was a live band that played 70s music. Henry likes to get up and dance with the band.
