Saturday

Mark’s and Cindy’s

RM 1035

307 miles completed

We woke up to a cold, clear day. I took off my thermal underwear and put on my wetsuit pants.

We left about 9:50 and paddled 20.5 miles to the home of Mark Buetow and Cindy Carlson. By afternoon it was warm and sunny with moderate wind. It got cloudy in the afternoon but it didn’t rain.

It was after 5:00 o’clock when we got to Mark’s and Cindy’s. They met us at their dock and helped us with our gear.

Mark took us up to their house in a golf cart. We showered, and did laundry. We had drinks and chips. For dinner Cindy made chili and cornbread. Terry and I had seconds. After dinner Mark took us for a walk out to the road so we could see their property. They have almost 40 acres, and 900 feet of river frontage.

We slept in their guest room.

Mark and Cindy are true angels.
