Day 29 on the Mississippi River

September 19, 2021

Sunday

Victoria and Jon Dudeck’s home

RM 1013

329 miles completed

We had breakfast with Mark and Cindy. Cindy prepared an egg bake, which was delicious. Then while Terry and I were packing up she made a lunch for us to take on the river…12 sliders. Half were turkey and cheese and half were ham and cheese. We are grateful for their hospitality. We will certainly meet again. Cindy’s sister lives in Fayetteville, Georgia about six miles from my home in Jonesboro, Georgia.

We paddled 24 miles. It was a really hard day because of the wind. It was 20 mph in our face almost all day.

We stopped for the night at the home of Victoria and Jon Dudeck. They literally opened their home to us for showers and laundry, and to cook our own breakfast when we get up. They have to work.. They took us out to eat dinner at a nice restaurant and bar, We slept in their camper trailer

Victoria said we could take a zero day and stay two nights. We accepted. My shoulder needs a rest after the hard workout, and the weather forecast is for rain.
