Stearns County Park canoe campsite
RM 942
400 miles completed
We had to vacate the cabin by 7:00 am. As a result we started paddling at 7:50 am. That is very likely the first time we have ever started that early, and it is also very likely the last.
The morning was overcast and cold. But there was no wind, so that was good. The threat of rain didn’t happen, so that was good too.
We paddled 6.76 miles to Blanchard Dam and made the portage. It was a long portage, 2/3 miles. We took the suggestion of Lee Bergstrom and Janet Rith and used the bike path.
After the portage we had current. We paddled 14.25 miles at 3.5 mph. The total paddle miles was 21 miles.
The afternoon was sunny and warm.
We have a nice private campsite with a picnic table, fire ring and an outhouse.
We had a campfire. I slept in my hammock and Terry slept in his tent.
