Tuesday

Dimmick Island

RM 890

452 miles completed

I woke at 5:30 and got up at 6:15 when it was just starting to get light. I had oatmeal, coffee, and an apple for breakfast. I packed my lunch of peanut butter on ritz crackers, turkey sausage sticks, and an apple.

We packed our gear just damp. The dew was not so bad up in the woods as it is in the open near the river. I slept in my hammock so my tent didn’t get wet

We paddled almost 27 miles, our farthest day yet. We had current all day. There were no dams and no portages. The sun was warm. The sky was clear. Occasionally there was some South wind in our face. We encountered a lot of mild rapids. We were able to get through almost all of them without hitting rocks.

We stopped at two city parks that were supposed to have water according to the map, but there was no drinking water at either Bridge View or Ellison parks.

We paddled on to Dimmick Island.

We had Spanish rice and fish with tortillas and crackers. We had some of Stomy’s zucchini bread for dessert.

I hammocked, Terry tented.

My favorite part is hearing about what you ate. 😋 Glad you had a good day.
