Day 4 on the Mississippi River

Left our camp 9:40.

Arrived at street 230 at 10:50. We got to coffee pot landing at 1:10. We didn’t have to walk or fight grass. But we did encounter five beaver dams, one of which had a four foot fall.

We made five miles today in 3 1/2 hours. We stopped at coffee pot to find water. Terry walked over a mile where he filled 3 gallon jugs and walked back.

We are tired and it is getting late so we decided to stay here tonight.

Terry got a leech on his ankle while he was washing off in the river. He put peroxide on it and it let go. The spot bled for a while. Then terry remembered my ankle bleeding today we think I must have had one on me. When I looked closer I found 3 leech bites on my ankles.
