Jim Wazlawik’s cottage

RM 800.5

Diamond Bluff, Minnesota

541 miles completed

We left our river bank campsite and in about a mile we reached the confluence of the St.Croix and the Mississippi. We had Wisconsin on the left and Minnesota on the right.

We met one tug and barges. Otherwise the paddling was uneventful. We stopped for lunch and a rest around noon. We arrived at Jim Wazlawik’s cottage around 2:30. Jim texted that he would be there around 5:30. We walked two blocks to The Nauti Hawg Bar and Grill for a few beers while we waited.

Jim’s cottage is being renovated so Jim cooked outside in an electric skillet. He made gyros and hash browns. Two of Jim’s sons were there. We had a great time.

Terry and I found a place in the house to throw our sleeping bags and we were very comfortable.
