Hammock camping on a tiny island south of Spring Lake

I paddled 23 miles today. The morning was very pleasant. The afternoon was not.
In the afternoon the wind increased and the waves got really big over that big lake. Around Savanna, Illinois I took sloughs around islands and managed to get some miles in out of the wind.
I’m surprised I got 23 miles. I am about 8 miles from lock and dam 13.
Thanks for reading Terry is in an open boat and wind and waves slow him He is one day behind and when the wind lets him he will catch up
