Tent camping at Keithsburg Riverside Campground, IL

I paddled about 22 miles today.

I got started at 8:50. The morning was smooth and easy. Near midday the wind got up out of the south and I had to stop and put on the skirt.

I cleared lock and dam 17 at 1:00 pm. I didn’t have to wait. The wind continued rough until late afternoon when it became more Easterly. The cross wind was not so bad.

I found the Keithsburg campsite around 4:30. They left the shower building unlocked but no one was there to pay. I put my tent on a campsite near the river and charged my phone and two backup batteries. The water is good city water.

I ate a pizza at a bar two blocks away. A local gave me a ride back in his Gator. It’s a really small town.

I had a hot shower and built a fire in a fire ring. A local camper gave me some fire wood.

Terry texted that he is 7 miles behind me.
