Day 92 on the Mississippi River

I paddled 32 miles today.

I woke up at 5:30 AM feeling great.

I was packed up and ready to go by 7 o’clock. I had the nice complementary breakfast in the restaurant and checked out.

I tried to get a Lyft to take me to the marina, but it was $20, and, it was gonna take an hour for them to get there. So I rode the trolley to the Mud Island pedestrian bridge for a dollar, and walked across.

Joe Weiss came by the Kayak slip to see me off. There’s no charge for leaving my kayak there. Joe said they do that for all the kayaks.

I left the marina at 8:40. I cleared the lower tip of mud island at 9 o’clock and rode into the current.

Not much to write about: a lot of tugs and barges, Not much wind, partly cloudy and hot.

I passed lower River mile 725 at noon.

Around 5 o’clock I found a nice flat sandbar without any mud.  So I stopped to camp.
