We started paddling at 9:20. We immediately encountered rice grass without a clear passage. We would break through to a clear spot only to be surrounded again. We spent the next three hours pulling ourselves with the grass. We covered a half mile by 11:40. Then we had free paddling for a while, alternat with shallow water where we had to walk and pull our kayak and boat.

Terry Butler has a Canoe and I have a kayak.

We encountered three beaver dams. Two of them we were able to drag our boats over the top. One beaver dam we found a little passage around.

We had to portage around a man made dam: Vekin’s dam. It was a 50 yard portage. The takeout and launching spots were both at a 3 foot vertical banks. Terry and I were able to drag the boats up and down the banks without unloading.
