On the road again.

On August 4th I left Jonesboro, Georgia and started the trip to Yellowstone.

I have managed to get a lot of free lodging so far.

I stopped in Chattanooga and my daughter Wendey Gatewood met me for lunch. We ate at Clydes on Main Street. The service was great...we were the only people in there at 11:00 AM on Friday.

I drove on to Nashville and spent the night with my daughter Brencie Fox, and Kevin, and their three daughters: Clara, Rachel, and Harper. Brencie fixed pizza and salad.

On Saturday I drove to Batesville, Arkansas and spent the night with Steve Case and his son Terrell Case at Steve's and Ellen's cabin overlooking the river.

On Sunday I drove to Lawrence, Kansas where my favorite niece, Mandy Akers, fed me and gave me lodging for the night.

On Labor Day Monday I made a short drive to Lake Wilson State Park, Kansas. I camped by the lake in my back packing tent. It wasn't free but it was cheap. It was a beautiful day and I waded in the lake and wore shorts and T-shirt.

But now Summer is over for me.

Today, Tuesday, September 8, I drove from Lake Wilson, Kansas to Wheatland, Wyoming. Last night, about an hour before sunset the wind started to blow really hard. It blew all night. The tent stakes held. I woke up at 7:00 AM and the wind was still going strong. Then it started to mist rain. The temperature was 55 degrees. I loaded up and drove to eat breakfast in a small cafe. By then the temperature was 47. Around 10:00 CDT, when I crossed the state line into Nebraska, the temperature was 43. At 11:00 am the temperature was 41, and in thirty more minutes it was 39 degrees.

I saw snow on the ground before I left Nebraska. When I crossed into Wyoming the temperature was 34 degrees. The lowest temperature today was 30 degrees.

I am stopping for the night in Wheatland, Wyoming. I am not camping. I got a Motel 6 and I am going out for Pub Grub. The snow here is about two inches. The roads are clear.

I stopped in Casper for lunch.
